Green Tales Forum and Concert Celebrated in Brussels
The final event of the Green Tales took place on 9 February in Brussels at the Instituto Cervantes, bringing together artists, educators, and cultural stakeholders to celebrate the outcomes of the two-year initiative led by the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation in partnership with Panodyssey.
The event highlighted how storytelling, music, visual arts, and digital tools were used to strengthen environmental awareness among children from schools in Iceland, Germany, Spain, and Turkey. The evening opened with a welcome speech by Teresa Iniesta, Director of the Instituto Cervantes, who expressed her pleasure in hosting the event alongside the International Yehudi Menuhin Foundation. She highlighted the importance of cultural initiatives like Green Tales in times of uncertainty, describing culture as a vital space where new possibilities can be imagined.
A keynote address was delivered by Lodovico Folin Calabi from UNESCO, who emphasised the transformative role of arts education in addressing today’s environmental and social challenges.
The roundtable discussion, moderated by Bianca Rubino, brought together experts including Sophia Queckenberg from the European Commission, Myrto Vounatsou, Jenny Schmiedel, and Professor Markus Hermann Meckl. The discussion explored the role of arts, education, and creativity in promoting sustainability and empowering young people.
The evening concluded with the screening of the Green Tales short film and a string trio concert celebrating childhood, nature, and hope, marking the culmination of the project’s creative journey.
