From September 25 to 27, 2024, Marina D’Amato, President of the European Fairy Tale Route Association, participated in the 13th Annual Advisory Forum on Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe, in Visegrád, Hungary. During the event, Marina D’Amato actively promoted both the European Fairy Tale Route and the Green Tales project, distributing informational flyers to raise awareness among the representatives of the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe.
Forum Objectives
The Forum centred on the theme, “Transmission and Innovation: Fostering Youth Participation Along the Cultural Routes of the Council of Europe” and aimed to strengthen cultural dialogue and enhance youth inclusion through cultural initiatives. Discussions highlighted how cultural routes can serve as platforms for education and innovation, encouraging greater engagement from younger generations.
A key focus of Marina D’Amato’s advocacy at the Forum was the Green Tales project, and how the Erasmus+ project and the European Fairy Tale Route are interconnected initiatives that leverage storytelling to educate and inspire, particularly among younger audiences.
The synergy between these two initiatives lies in their shared use of storytelling as a powerful educational tool. While the European Fairy Tale Route preserves and promotes cultural heritage through traditional tales, the Green Tales project adapts this approach to address contemporary issues like environmental sustainability through the art. By integrating the timeless appeal of fairy tales with modern themes, both initiatives aim to engage youth, cultivate creativity, and instil values which are essential for personal development and societal well-being.
