On May 28, 2025, the University of Akureyri and Valsárskóli hosted two events— one public and one private — to showcase the outcomes of the Green Tales project and celebrate student and teacher creative work involved in the project. The main event brought 80 members of the school community for the official screening of the short animated film developed as part of the project. The event focused on the Icelandic stories, highlighting the students’ storytelling, character development, and collaboration with artists.
The attendees were impressed by the quality and complexity of the animation. Many teachers expressed surprise at the amount of work involved, sparking conversations about the educational benefits of artistic learning and the value of creative collaboration.
In addition to the film, sketches and storyboards from the production process were briefly exhibited. The event also highlighted the project’s European funding, linking the local achievements to the broader context of international cooperation.
The small event was organised for the parents to showcase the project and give them a deeper insight into the creative process behind the film, including animation techniques, story development, and the students’ involvement throughout the project.
The day concluded with a smaller, private gathering to further acknowledge the project’s impact and partnerships.
