Green Tales schools unveiled

The four primary schools joining the Green Tales project are:

GERMANY

The Carl-Kraemer-Grundschule values cultural diversity and animal protection, inspired by its namesake Carl Kraemer.  It is an arts-focused all-day school that prioritises children’s unique characteristics and needs by encouraging them to explore their realities through art, fostering self-expression, inclusivity and perception. 80% of the 500 students are from diverse cultural backgrounds.

ICELAND

The Valsárskól is a small elementary school that focuses on nature, outdoor education, and local studies and emphasizes care, respect, ambition, and joy. The school cooperates with the kindergarten in Álfaborg and 12.3% of the students have migrant backgrounds.

SPAIN

The CEIP Ramón y Cajal school students are mainly from the San José Hadú neighbourhood, known for its vibrant commercial activity and predominantly Moroccan population. They primarily speak “Dariya” (no Spanish) and follow the Islamic religion, impacting their way of life. Families generally have low to medium-low economic and sociocultural status. Family involvement in the school is increasing despite cultural differences.

TURKEY

The Kazım Karabekir Secondary School is named after Kazım Karabekir Pasha, a close friend of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the heroic commander of the War of Independence. The school has around 30 teachers across 16 branches and serves approximately 500 students aged 10-14. Located in a disadvantaged area in Adana, 37.95% of the students are refugees, inclusive students, or come from broken families facing severe economic challenge.

The school strives to be a leader and exemplar in education. It aims to prepare students to become productive, responsible, ethical, creative, and compassionate members of society.
